David Thursfield, QPM, CAMS


 

David THURSFIELD, QPM, CAMS, recently retired as the Director of the Financial Reporting Authority of the Cayman Islands.  He also served as Commissioner of Police for the Cayman Islands for six years. 

David served for 32 years in United Kingdom Police Services where he finally held the rank of Deputy Chief Constable with West Mercia Constabulary.

His UK policing experiences include service as staff officer to Her Majesty’s Inspectorate (HMIC), reviewing the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Tanzania in 1987, and developing a strategy to combat crime with the Government of South Africa in 1997.  He also served on a number of Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) national committees, including research and terrorism and was Secretary to the National Joint Standing Committee on the Police Use of Firearms.

He is a UK Police Staff College Bramshill Scholar, holds a first class honours degree in management and law and is a graduate of the  FBI Academy.  He served for four years as Vice President of the Association of Caribbean Commissioners of Police (ACCP), is a holder of the Queen’s Police Medal for meritorious conduct and is a certified anti-money laundering specialist.
